Graston Technique
Graston Technique uses specialized instruments to break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions, accelerating healing and restoring function through targeted soft tissue mobilization.
What You Can Expect
Graston Technique is Instrument assisted soft tissue massage (IASTM)/manual therapy technique used to reduce a patient’s pain and increase function.
This technique works through a combination of:
- Breaking down the scar tissue and fascia restrictions that are usually associated with some form of trauma to the soft tissue (ie: a strained muscle, pulled ligament, tendon, or fascia).
- Reducing restrictions by stretching connective tissue in an attempt to rearrange the structure of the soft tissue being treated.
- Promoting a better healing environment for the injured soft tissue.
- There also appears to be a neurologic benefit to treating patients, the literature suggests that when someone’s given manual or IASTM therapy, certain nerve fibers are activated.
We use the Graston Technique frequently for all ages and types of patients to improve the function of various joints and muscles, increase the rate of healing, decreasing scar tissue and pain, and improve overall function and performance. By using this technique in conjunction with all of our other services, we can drastically improve the patient’s healing and recovery time and return them back to their prior level of function at a much rapid rate.
